What is teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening can be an excellent manner of achieving brighter colour tone without removing teeth surface. This procedure cannot completely change the teeth colour but it can affect the existing tone.

Why do I need teeth whitening?

There are numerous reasons for teeth whitening. Very few people have shiny white teeth, and out teeth can become darker throughout life.

Teeth can be coloured on surface because of food and beverages such as tea, coffee, red wine etc. Smoking can darken teeth as well. Some people can have spots below the teeth surface, which can be cause by antibiotics, or tiny cracks in teeth, where various pigments deposit.

What does teeth whitening look like?

Before the treatment, it is necessary to protect the gum edge so it is not damaged during whitening. Afterwards, a thin layer of whitening gel is put on the teeth. The gel has the base of hydrogen peroxide. Then, every tooth is lightened for a while with a laser beam, which activates the gel. The whole process lasts for about 30 minutes.

What are advantages of laser whitening compared to “regular” whitening?

Laser light beam brings quicken reaction of hydrogen peroxide in the whitening gel. Simultaneously, released oxygen penetrates the surface tooth layer and performs the whitening process. Changes are much quicker, and the end-result is five or even six tones of brighter colour.

How long will my teeth remain white?

The whitening result lasts, in average, for up to three years. However, it differs individually. It is less likely that the brighter tone will remain so long if you smoke too much, eat or drink products which can colour your teeth (red wine, curry, coffee, etc).

Ask our dentist team for their opinion before you opt for whitening.

Is teeth whitening harmful?

If it is performed in a dentist office, controlled by a dentist who has previously examined the teeth and estimated that the patient is a candidate for whitening, the whitening is completely harmless.

Teeth usually get sensitive from several hours to 24 hours after the whitening.

Can teeth with removed nerve be whitened?

Yes. Treated teeth darken in time. During whitening of these teeth, whitening gel is put both on outer tooth surface and inside of tooth crown.

Can ceramic crowns and facets be whitened?

No. Whitening  has an effect only on natural teeth, not on fixed prosthetic works such as crowns, bridges or facets.
